The ‘Small-Business Idol’ Video Released on September 4
On September 4, ‘Life84’ released a video titled ‘Small-Business Idol.’ Kian84 introduced Uspia as a group not widely known to the public and listened to the members’ stories while following their accommodation and practice schedules.
Uspia is a group consisting of Sian, Soyi, Seoyu, Daon, Chaena, and Roa. According to reports, the members spoke candidly about the concerns they felt while continuing their activities. Soyi said she had no money in her account, while Seoyu revealed that she had approximately 1,500 won in her bank account—1500 won. Chaena said she had 10 ten-thousand-won bills in allowance money from her parents.
The key point of this scene lies less in the balances themselves than in the way a rookie group continues its activities while considering both living expenses and its next activities. Soyi said that continuing to appear was important, while Sian said he was grateful for music-show activities and that he was aiming for first place.
Recalling the Time When He Said, “It Would Be Nice to Make 300 per Month”
After hearing the members’ stories, Kian84 recalled the time when he lived with Chimchaekman near Hongdae while working as a webtoon artist. At the time, Chimchaekman suggested that they each save 1억 won, or 100 million won, and move out, but Kian84 said he thought it would be nice to make 300만 원, or 3 million won, per month.
Kian84 then shared that after things began going well, his monthly income changed to 300만 원, 700만 원, and 1,800만 원, or 300, 700, and 1800 ten-thousand-won units, and that he saved 2억 원, or 200 million won, and moved out after one year. This was his personal experience of past income, which he directly described in the video; it is not a standard for explaining the income of other creators or rookie singers.
He encouraged Uspia by saying that it would be enjoyable to see money accumulate if things went well, and added remarks to the effect that the stage of beginning to receive settlement payments was difficult. Rather than focusing on the numbers after success, he spoke in line with the reality of the members who were still waiting for settlement payments, shaping the flow of this video.
A Day Spent Considering Even the Album Concept Together
During the members’ lesson, Kian84 also prepared presentation materials for Uspia’s next album concept. Suggestions included ‘Mosquito Girls,’ inspired by Daon’s personal talent, ‘Girl Boss,’ and ‘Yudochae,’ a combination of Uspia and semiconductors.
These suggestions were not announced as actual release plans or confirmed album concepts. They were ideas proposed by Kian84 from a cartoonist’s perspective within the video. The observation video introducing Uspia drew attention because it did not stop at listening to the members’ concerns, but continued into a setting where creative ideas were shared together.
Kian84’s past story was not a promise that the same outcome must always follow hardship. Rather, the video captured the anxiety surrounding a rookie group’s activities and a day when a senior figure brought out his own starting point in the face of that anxiety.
