Seahawk Selected to Replace Aging Lynx, With About 20 Aircraft to Be Introduced by 2032

The point worth noting in this decision is the role assigned to a shipborne helicopter, rather than the aircraft’s size or maximum speed. While a ship is moving at sea, the helicopter serves as a means of surveying a wider area and detecting underwater submarine signals and surface targets.
