Japan's McDonald's announced on the 25th a menu overhaul to take effect starting in October.
Five menus including the Chicken Filet-O and Shaka Chicken are being discontinued sequentially this month, and two types of Mac Chicken Cheese will end sales as of October 20.

Chicken Filet-O and Shaka Chicken Will Disappear Sequentially in the New Month
McDonald's Japan (日本マクドナルド), which operates McDonald's in Japan, announced through a notice that it will sequentially discontinue five menus starting in October 2026 "in accordance with the launch of new products." The targets are five items: the Chicken Filet-O (チキンフィレオ) and Double Chicken Filet-O, the Teriyaki Chicken Filet-O and Double Teriyaki Chicken Filet-O, and Shaka Chicken (シャカチキ), a chicken snack. The new products that will replace these are scheduled to be separately announced on October 8, so at this point only what will be discontinued is confirmed.
Mac Chicken Cheese Ends Completely on October 20
In the same announcement, McDonald's Japan specifically noted that it will end sales of Mac Chicken Cheese (チキチ) and Double Mac Chicken Cheese on October 20. Unlike the five menus mentioned earlier that will disappear sequentially in line with the launch of new products, the two types of Mac Chicken Cheese have a fixed end date, so those who want to taste them this month must hurry. The company left a message in the notice saying "Thank you for your long-standing support."
Sauces and Beverages Also Get Updated
Discontinuations are not all that is happening. The Bacon Lettuce Burger and Double Bacon Lettuce Burger, the Shrimp Filet-O (えびフィレオ) and Double Shrimp Filet-O, will have their sauces renewed on October 21. However, what specific taste they will change to can only be confirmed by waiting for the October 8 announcement. Among beverages, Minute Maid Orange will change to Minute Maid Orange Blend 100%, which blends orange, white grape, and lemon juice, and the M size, which has not been sold for some time, will return starting October 21.
Fall Limited-Time Menus Are Not Affected by This Overhaul
Meanwhile, the fall limited-time menus currently being sold as of late September are not included in this overhaul. The eleven limited menus recently introduced—including the Tsukimi (moon-viewing) burger series, Fri Fri Ebi Frio, a shrimp snack, and Mac Floury—do not overlap with the discontinuation and renewal list announced this time. For customers who have been enjoying the fall limited-time menus, there is nothing that will immediately change with this overhaul.
