News that the Geely EX2’s price has fallen significantly does not mean that everyone now pays the same price.
Geely’s direct-sales program, launched in Brazil, applies separate price lists depending on purchasing eligibility, such as corporations, people with disabilities (PcD), and taxis.
In particular, the taxi purchase price and government-program benefits cannot be applied together, so comparing only the figures in the table can easily overlook the conditions.
3-line summary
1. EX2 direct-sale prices differ by purchasing eligibility
2. The taxi price is 10만4,212 reais for the PRO
3. Move Brasil benefits cannot be received together
PRO Is 11만5,134 Reais for Corporations and 10만4,212 Reais for Taxis
Geely’s direct-sales program in Brazil covers the EX2, EX5, and EX5 EM-i. Among these, the EX2 is an electric hatchback, and the price lists differ for regular retail purchases, purchases under a corporate name, PcD purchases, and taxi purchases. Rather than the single word “discount,” who buys the vehicle and under what eligibility determines the actual amount.
The regular price of the EX2 PRO is 12만3,800 reais. The direct-sale price under a corporate name (CNPJ) is 11만5,134 reais, the PcD price is 12만580 reais, and the taxi purchase price is 10만4,212 reais. Compared with the regular price, the lowest listed price is the taxi price, but it is not a price anyone can choose.
The same approach applies to the higher trim, the MAX. The regular retail price is 13만6,800 reais, the corporate-name price is 12만7,224 reais, the PcD price is 13만3,242 reais, and the taxi price is 11만5,155 reais. For both the PRO and MAX, the taxi price is the lowest, but buyers must first meet the purchasing eligibility requirements.
According to reports by Estadão and Motor1.com Brasil, Geely operates this program at 40 dealerships in Brazil and also offers up to 36 installments and interest rates starting at 0.99% per month. However, it is more accurate to distinguish these as the financing terms offered under the program rather than interpret them as meaning that identical limits and interest rates are guaranteed for every buyer.
The PcD Price Is Closer to a Separate Condition Than to a “Large Price Cut”
Canaltech introduced the EX2’s PcD price as approximately 3,220 reais lower than the regular price for the PRO and approximately 3,558 reais lower for the MAX. The PRO changes from 12만3,800 reais to 12만580 reais, while the MAX changes from 13만6,800 reais to 13만3,242 reais. Compared with the taxi price, the discount shown in the PcD list may appear small.
However, the two categories are not the same discount coupon. The PcD price is a purchasing category to which tax benefits stipulated by law apply, while the taxi price is also a condition based on separate eligibility. Rather than looking first at the lowest figure, buyers must first confirm the purchasing category that applies to them for a valid price comparison.
The EX2 is sold in two versions, the PRO and MAX. According to Canaltech, both models are equipped with a 116-horsepower rear electric motor and a 39.4kWh battery, with a 289km range under Brazil’s Inmetro PBEV standard. The PRO is introduced as including LED headlamps, six airbags, and a 14.6-inch multimedia screen, while the MAX adds 16-inch alloy wheels, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, and advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS).
The range standard also needs to be distinguished here. The article mentions longer-distance figures as user examples, but the figure presented as official is 289km under the PBEV standard. Figures based on actual driving conditions should not be treated as official certification values.
Move Brasil Does Not Apply Concurrently with the Direct-Sale Price List
The EX2 also participates in Brazil’s Move Brasil program in PRO and MAX versions. However, Motor1.com Brasil and Estadão reported that the benefits of this program do not apply cumulatively with Geely’s direct-sale conditions. This is particularly important when taxi buyers look at the EX2’s price.
Therefore, adding the “lowest taxi price” to the “government-program benefits” does not match the conditions described in these reports. Since the applicable price list changes depending on the contracting route, the EX2’s price competitiveness should be viewed not as a single lowest price but as the single set of conditions for the selected sales route.
Geely said it plans to expand sales to corporations and vehicle-operations customers through this program. The EX2’s direct-sale prices are part of that strategy; this is not an announcement that the regular retail price itself has changed across the board. The key point in the conditions confirmed in Brazil is not the size of the price reduction, but purchasing eligibility and the non-overlap of benefits.
