Brazilian aircraft manufacturer Embraer has delivered the 2,000th aircraft in the E-Jets family (2000th delivery).
The commemorative aircraft was delivered to Azul Linhas Aéreas, but the figure also reflects the role these aircraft have played in regional connectivity beyond the manufacturing plant.
However, the delivery record, the airline’s operating performance, and the route possibilities mentioned for the future are not the same fact.

The E195-E2 from São José dos Campos to Azul
Embraer delivered the 2,000th aircraft in the E-Jets family on September 2. According to G1’s report and AEROIN’s report, the aircraft is an E195-E2 delivered to Azul from the company’s manufacturing facility in São José dos Campos, São Paulo state, Brazil. AEROIN reported the registration as PS-ADQ.
Since entering service in 2004, E-Jets have accumulated 4800 ten-thousand flight hours—that is, 4,800万 flight hours—and transported more than 28 hundred million and 5000 ten-thousands people worldwide, corresponding to 28억5,000만 명 이상. According to Embraer, the family ranks among the top 3 commercial jet programs in the world by deliveries. That is why the production milestone represents more than a single commemorative event.
The family consists of the first generation, made up of E170, E175, E190, and E195, and the second generation, comprising the E190-E2 and E195-E2. More than 90 airlines have operated them in over 60 countries. The central point is that they were developed primarily for regional routes, where demand may not justify deploying larger aircraft. Not every city has the same conditions for large-aircraft operations.
Brazilian Minister of Ports and Airports Tomé Franca said the aircraft’s size helps address demand in cities unable to accommodate larger aircraft and expand connectivity between cities. This is the government’s official explanation. The delivery of 2,000 E-Jets has already occurred, but that does not itself guarantee new service to any particular city.
Azul’s 50th Embraer Jet
The commemorative aircraft is the 145th Embraer aircraft Azul has received to date. At the same time, it became the 50th Embraer jet currently operating in Azul’s fleet. According to R7’s report, Azul began commercial operations in December 2008 with two E190s.
Embraer aircraft operated by Azul have made more than 210 ten-thousand flights, or 210만 회 이상 비행, and carried approximately 2 hundred million and 600 ten-thousands people, or 약 2억600만 명. Their cumulative distance flown exceeds 16 hundred million and 5000 ten-thousands km, or 16억5,000만km 이상, with 320 ten-thousand flight hours, or 320만 시간. These aircraft accounted for 56% of Azul’s total operations and 58% of passenger transport. This is the context in which Embraer’s 2,000th delivery represents, for Azul, the additional receipt of an aircraft type with a substantial long-term operating share.
The aircraft served 97 airports in Brazil and were used to launch service to 53 new cities and open 453 routes. In July 2017, at Jericoacoara, and in January 2022, at Ponta Porã, the E195 was connected with the start of scheduled commercial service. R7 reported that Azul was the first airline to provide scheduled flights to both places.
Azul’s longest Embraer operation was a one-time flight in 2011 connecting Campinas, Brazil, with Barranquilla, Colombia, covering 4823 km, or 4,823km. By contrast, everyday regional connectivity is built through the accumulation of numerous short segments. This is why E-Jets’ record must be assessed not only by total production but also by the airports and cities where the aircraft have actually been deployed.
2026 Targets and the Possibility of a Recife Route
Embraer delivered 65 aircraft from April through June, recording its strongest second-quarter delivery performance in 16 years. Its order backlog is 345억 달러, or 345 billion dollars, of which the commercial aviation segment accounts for 151억 달러, or 151 billion dollars. The number of commercial aircraft to be delivered in the future was presented as 465 aircraft.
The company expects to deliver 240~250 aircraft in 2026 across commercial and business aviation. However, this is the company’s forecast. CEO Francisco Gomes Neto said he expects new records in revenue, profitability, and deliveries, but also said that parts of the supply chain were creating difficulties for the planned production schedule. This is a point at which targets and actual results cannot be treated as the same.
Azul CEO John Rodgerson cited the possibility of a future Recife–Porto Alegre connection as an example while welcoming future deliveries. His comment indicates that the airline continues to examine aircraft range and connectivity. However, this route was only an example of a possibility under consideration, not an announcement that its launch had been confirmed. The delivery of the 2,000th E-Jet is a completed record; subsequent deliveries, routes, and next-generation products must be distinguished as plans or considerations disclosed by the respective parties.
