Seonbi’s Way in Sunchang, Jeonbuk, is introduced as a 6km route along Churyeongcheon from Hunmongjae to Nakdeokjeong.
On 9월 10일, the Son Tra Peninsula Management Committee in Da Nang, Vietnam, issued a notice regarding unauthorized trekking and ecotourism activities in the special-use forest area.
When choosing a walking route, just as important as the distance and scenery is who can access the trail and in what manner.
3-Line Summary
1. Access conditions differ by trekking route
2. Sunchang’s Seonbi’s Way is 6km and takes approximately 2 hours 30 minutes
3. Designated trails and permitted areas must be distinguished
Sunchang’s Seonbi’s Way, Connecting Waterways and Villages over 6km
Seonbi’s Way in Bokheung-myeon, Sunchang-gun, begins at a wooden deck along Churyeongcheon below Hunmongjae and continues to Nakdeokjeong. According to reports, it passes in sequence through the fork in the farm road, Seokbogyо, Sachang Village, and Kim Byeong-ro’s birthplace, and takes approximately 2 hours 30 minutes to complete. The difficulty is described as “easy,” with little burden even for beginners.
The key feature of this trail is its route along the stream. Churyeongcheon is introduced as a tributary within the Seomjingang River system, and most of the course follows the waterway. Since it also passes historical and cultural resources such as Hunmongjae and Kim Byeong-ro’s birthplace, it is closer to walking that slowly connects villages and historic sites than to a hike simply intended to cover distance.
According to the reports, the area around Churyeongcheon is open at all times, year-round, and there is no admission fee. Restrooms are available, and Hunmongjae is also reported to have parking. The trail’s advantage is that its starting point, route, and amenities are provided.
Son Tra Peninsula: A Notice Has Been Issued on Unauthorized Activities
By contrast, Da Nang’s Son Tra Peninsula cannot be regarded as a trekking destination that people may freely enter simply because of its outstanding scenery. On 9월 10일, the Management Committee for the Son Tra Peninsula and Da Nang Tourist Beaches advised residents and tourists not to register for, purchase, or participate in unauthorized trekking tours, ecotourism experiences, and wildlife-observation activities in the special-use forest area, saying that such activities were increasing.
The notice prohibits the unauthorized use of hiking trails or access roads leading into the forest for activities organized by individuals or groups, as well as nighttime trekking and wildlife observation without permission from the relevant authorities. Son Tra was described as mountainous terrain with many deep valleys, cliffs, and remote areas, and the reports also included cases involving people becoming lost or suffering falls and wave-related accidents.
The difference shown by the two cases is clear. While routes such as the one in Sunchang provide information on the starting point, course, and conditions of use, in protected forests, permission comes before product advertisements or social-media recommendations. Walking in nature means seeking out scenery, but it begins with following routes that are open to access.
