Singer Jang Han-byeol took the final win on a stage where she performed with Seongri for the first time.
The two appeared as the “Global Hwagaejangteo” team in Part 2 of KBS 2TV’s “Immortal Songs” National Trot Festival special, which aired on September 5.
The key point was that they jointly designed the song and performance and turned the stage into a competition result, rather than simply the fact that it was their first duet.
3-Line Summary
1. Jang Han-byeol and Seongri won Part 2 of “Immortal Songs”
2. They recorded 409 points with “The One I Happened to Meet”
3. The chemistry of their first duet led to the result
“Global Hwagaejangteo,” Bringing Andong and Brisbane Together
Jang Han-byeol and Seongri took the stage under the name “Global Hwagaejangteo.” It was a concept built around the combination of Seongri, who is from Andong, Gyeongbuk, and Jang Han-byeol, who is from Brisbane, Australia. The two competed as one of five teams in Part 2 of this special.
Jang Han-byeol stated that she was performing with Seongri for the first time through this broadcast. The two chose Songgolmae’s “The One I Happened to Meet” as their competition song, and Jang Han-byeol explained that they selected it because it was a song that could showcase both their singing ability and performance. Rather than overcoming the pressure of a first duet by reproducing a familiar song, they competed through the stage arrangement itself.
The stage was structured by adding elements of dance and rock to trot. Flashy group choreography, a dance break, high notes, and harmonies followed, and the two handled singing and dancing simultaneously. Single List reported that they created a stage combining rock and dance among the participating teams. The way Jang Han-byeol’s command of the stage and Seongri’s vocals meshed within one song was a highlight of this competition.
From 409 Points to the Final Win
According to an EToday report, the two earned 409 points against Jeju representatives Yang Ji-eun and Kang Hye-yeon, securing their first win. They then overcame Shin Yu, the final challenger and representative of Seoul, becoming the final winners of Part 2. Although the goal they had stated before the broadcast was two wins, the actual result was the final win.
The cast praised them highly for maintaining their live vocals while dancing and for the completeness of their performance. The fact that they also overcame their showdown with Shin Yu, who had been identified as a competitor before the stage, provides additional context for the result. Showing different vocal and performance roles as one team, rather than relying simply on the familiarity of the song choice, led to the win.
News Culture reported that the two were scheduled to meet audiences through the “Nameless Legend” national tour concert afterward. However, these reports alone do not confirm the schedule for each performance or whether the events actually took place.
