204 New Units Launched at TNI Headquarters in Cilangkap
According to a detikNews report, President Prabowo announced the establishment of 204 new units under the Army, Navy, and Air Force at the anniversary ceremony held on October 5 at Prima Square at TNI Headquarters in Cilangkap, Jakarta. The President chaired the ceremony and carried out the establishment procedure, followed by the sounding of sirens and a gun salute.
The establishment included 6 new regional military commands. Regional military commands are organizations responsible for the military command structure across broad areas, and the newly appointed commanders also took office at the event. The 6 commands identified in the report are the Mamberamo, Mataram, Sultan Mahmud Riayat Shah, Soe Sonbai, Linambora, and Maluku Kie Raha regional military commands.
Organizational Expansion Across the Army, Navy, and Air Force
The new organizations were not limited to regional military commands. The Army received 30 territorial development infantry brigades and 150 territorial development infantry battalions, while combat support battalions in the cavalry, field artillery, and air defense artillery fields were also newly established.
The Navy received 4 Marine infantry battalions and a Marine infantry brigade, while the Air Force additions included parachute units, air squadrons, radar units, and training air squadrons. The numbers alone cannot determine in which regions each unit will operate or what missions it will perform, but it is clear that the ceremony served as an opportunity to expand organizations across multiple military branches simultaneously.
Ceremony Held Under the Theme “A Strong TNI with the People”
An 81st anniversary event was also held that day in Belawan in northern Sumatra. According to an announcement by the North Sumatra provincial government, the event introduced this year’s commemorative theme: “A Strong TNI with the People, and an Indonesia that is Sovereign, Just, and Prosperous.”
The message from the Commander of the Armed Forces also included five principles known as PRIMA. They refer to professionalism, responsiveness, integration, modernity, and adaptability, and were presented as guidelines for strengthening personnel capabilities, acquiring defense technology, and cooperating with other members of society. These were directions stated at the event and are not confirmed results of actual organizational operations.
